Oats are a fabulous and nutritious choice for breakfast. They are quite a popular staple for many as they are affordable and provide family members with long lasting energy to take on the day. Many people are confused as to whether or not oats are gluten free. This worldwide favourite grain is in fact gluten free, however the issue is cross contamination. Oats are generally processed and packaged in factories where other gluten filled grains are handled. If gluten affects you or any of your family members negatively in any way I recommend purchasing certified gluten free oats. This certification label promises that the oats have not come into intact with gluten products.
This hearty bowl has so many health benefits and the short amount of time it takes to make this breakfast is just a life saver (especially for those who wake up hangry and in a rush-like me). I remember growing up on my dad’s bland and overcooked oatmeal. It was not something I looked forward to eating upon rising nor was it something I anticipated making for myself once I was out on my own. Many people have unfortunately had the same flavourless oatmeal bowl experience as I have and they swear it off for life. This is when the Quaker instant oatmeal packages come into play. Sure, they taste amazing but why do you think that is? Indeed. It is all sugar. Steer clear of Quaker, you don’t need him-I promise. Instead, buy some large whole oats (not instant) in bulk and get to this warm, comforting, perfectly spiced blueberry oatmeal bowl.

Aside from making this Blueberry Oatmeal Bowl, what are everyone's plans for the weekend? I work today and then I'm spending some time with the family. Sunday I have a coffee date at the Forks to roam around in the perfect weather Winnipeg is expecting and then I'm off to a wedding party meet. My gorgeous friend is getting married this December and I'm honored to be by her side as a bridesmaid. What is on your agenda?
