Hi Winnipeggers! A few months ago I had the pleasure of meeting up with Stephanie (Sam) Manchulenko, the creator of Winnipeg’s very own Lifestyle Pass. Before my Winnipeg Wellness blogging adventures, I had never heard of the Lifestyle Pass….I know, I know-where the hell have I been? My favourite part about writing blog posts on what Winnipeg has to offer is that I too, get to learn of our local hot spots. Sam proves time and time again with her yearly copies of the pass that Winnipeg has got it goin' on. This pass is a handheld booklet full of local savings. This year the Lifestyle Pass has over $5,000 in savings allowing us to embark on living out those healthy lifestyles that we have always dreamed of. The guide contains discounts to health conscious restaurants, rejuvenating spas, massage and chiropractic clinics, fitness centers throughout Winnipeg, and more.
When I met up with Sam I was so curious as to how in the world she came up with such an ingenious idea. Her story on how the creation came about was so inspiring. She said “One summer I sat down and drew a map of every place in the city that just made you feel good. I connected the dots and reached out to the local businesses and was able to create the Lifestyle Pass. I thought it would just be a one time thing but people kept asking me when the next year’s pass would be coming out. So now, it’s a thing. It’s my life and I love it.” What Stephanie has done here is exactly what I hope to do with my Winnipeg Wellness blog section. Create awareness. Create opportunity. Offer choices. She is so innovative and is doing such vibrant things by following her passion that it truly shows me that I’m headed in such a positive direction. Her passion for promoting health and wellness is so strong that she also teaches yoga classes, meditation, and dance cardio as well. To learn about her classes more in depth and to see schedules, you can do so [here].
